Life as a Manager

Where's the MONEY

Being a manager means, when someone higher up than you messes up then I get the blame. Or at least yelled at. My lovely payroll dude decided to save the company a few dollars and go Priority Mail instead of going next day UPS.

That would have been fine if he had mailed it out earlier..
I called Thursday because the checks did not arrive. He says, Yeah Yeah they will be there tomorrow.
(hint, We always got them on Thursday, Just couldn't get him to understand)
Then on Friday Called he says "Has the mail come yet????"Got mad at me.
He then calls at 11:30 and tells me he is looking into it..
Then goes home at noon and doesn't even call me back..

Well, I spent all of Friday listening to how one person can't move because they don't have their money. One person might get evicted because they needed it by Friday 6pm. One person did not even have gas or food money. They all were very upset...

THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT>>>>>>

Anyway only one person quit over this.. The sad thing is she was a lousy housekeeper so I didn't try to stop her. At least I won't have to fire her now..

I can relate. I have kids all the time asking me why I banned certain cards from being used in tournaments. I always explain that it is the company that makes the cards that chooses the cards to be banned. I don't think they listen, though.

well, i could understand why your employees were upset, maybe next-time you should give them the number to your pay-roll guy, make him listen to all the problems he has caused.
i mean, you should have told that guy off, then went above him and told his manager off. if you want employees to come to work on time, shouldnt you pay them on time??
